I graduated from Jay High School in 1984 and attended college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. I loved my time in the classroom as a student and I hope to instill this love of learning in my students that I teach.
I have an associates degree from NEOA&M college in Miami, Ok.
My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education and was obtained at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Ok.
I am a firm believer in obtaining lots of professional development and spend at least half of my summer atttending what I think are the best available. I believe that attending professional development workshops is the most important thing you can do as a teacher. It keeps you motivated and up to date with what is going on in education.
It is worth losing part of my summer every year. Professional development does nothing more than help me to be a better science educator and helps me to bring more exciting lessons to my classroom.
I started teaching at Jay Public Schools in the fall of 2007. I was fresh out of college and was so excited that I was going to get to teach at the school where I graduated. I have loved every single minute of it and hope to be here throughout my whole career. GO DAWGS!!!
I have only had one other experience working in a teacher capacity. Before finishing college, I worked for NEO Community Action Agency at an early learning center. I loved working with the younger children but knew in my heart that the older grades were the way for me to go!
I married my husband in September of 1984. I couldn't have chosen a better husband and father for my two children. I have a son that is a federal police officer and works for the BIA out ouf Miami. My daughter works for NEO A&M College at the Grove Center. I also have a fur child named Tessa whom I love just as dearly as my human children! She is a rat terrior who protects our family in a viscious manner! :) I am very proud of my little family and I can't wait to some day have some grand babies to spoil rotten just like my own children were growing up!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a DIE HARD SOONER FAN!!! My most favorite thing in the world is to watch my Sooners play football! I usually attend at least one game a year and the rest of the season you can find me parked on my couch watching them as well as other awesome teams playing.
In the winter time, my favorite things to do are trying out new recipes, soaking up valuable family time, and watching the beautiful snow fall. I love it when I get a day where I can enjoy all three of these activities in the same day!
In the spring, my favorite things to do is to soak up the good weather days and spending time on Lake Eucha watching the giggers get ready for the big tournament!
In the summertime, my most favorite time of the year, my hobbies include spending as much time as possible on Lake Eucha fishing and looking for arrowheads. I love this alone time with my husband and very much enjoy the beautiful scenery and water surrounding us while we fish!
