I also am a part of our building’s PBIS team. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a program that implements clear, concise expectations for students, allows all stakeholders to work together, and helps to identify students who may need more assistance to be successful in the classroom and communtiy.
I am also an employee of our district’s after school program, or J-Club. I work with second graders during their homework hour.
I began my teaching career in 2004. My first assignment was as a kindergarten teacher here at Jay Elementary. I moved to our K4 (pre-K) program in 2005 and taught there six years. I then moved back to kindergarten for four years before I moved to my current grade and location.
I have also served on our building’s RTI (response to intervention) team for 2016-2019. I worked with other grade level representatives to assist teachers in better serving their most at-risk students. During my time as a kindergarten teacher I chaired our grade level PLC, Professional Learning Community, for two years. During the 2018-2019 school year, I was blessed to be selected by my colleauges as the Jay Elementary Teacher of the Year.
I have been married to Newly Robertson for 16 years and we have two children which attend school here also. We enjoy supporting our children in all their endeavors. I am a member of the Parent Teacher Organiation and the President of the Jay Bulldogs Touchdown Club. You will often see my husband Newly helping out in my classroom and around the campus. He served as the Jay Youth Sports Associaton President for 5 years and is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization as well.
We have a little ranch, where at any given time you will find dogs, horses, chickens, cattle, ducks or goats.
I enjoy cheering for my kids in their various activities: cross country, football, basketball, track, and rodeo. We live close to the water, so when we have family time we love to take our small boat out to go fishing or gigging, take our kayaks for a float, or we just swim in the creek when it’s hot. I like to watch my kids and husband ride horses and rope steers on cool evenings. My kids and I enjoy hiking on our days off from school, riding bikes, and an occasional roadtrip when time allows. We usually visit state or national parks and historic sites when we do. I enjoy doing yoga, watching reality shows or binge watching old shows, shopping online, and decorating/crafting. I like to try new recipes when I get time. I like to do a little gardening in the spring and deer hunting in the fall. My favorites: subject is science, sport is basketball, season Fall, color is turquoise, food is cheese fries and fried deer steak, dessert is peach cobbler a la mode, cold drink is sweet tea and hot drink is dark roast coffee, movies are comedies, books are mysteries, place to visit is the mountains, holiday is Thanksgiving, and thing to do is spend the day at the spa.
