I then moved back to kindergarten for four years before I moved to my current grade and location. I am currently in my fifth year teaching second grade and in my sixteenth year overall.
I am currently serving on our building’s PBIS team. Positive behavior interventions and supports is a program that implements clear, concise expectations for students, allows all stakeholders to work together, and helps to identify students who may need more assistance to be successful in the classroom and communtiy. I have also served on our building’s RTI (response to intervention) team for 2016-2019. I worked with other grade level representatives to assist teachers in better serving their most at-risk students. During my time as a kindergarten teacher I chaired our grade level PLC, Professional Learning Community, for two years. During the 2018-2019 school year, I was blessed to be selected by my colleauges as the Jay Elementary Teacher of the Year.
I have been married to Newly Robertson for 15 years and we have two children which attend school here also. We enjoy supporting our children in all their endeavors. I am a member of the Parent Teacher Organiation and the President-Elect for the Football Booster Club. You will often see my husband Newly helping out in my classroom and around the campus. He serves as the Jay Youth Sports Associaton President and is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization as well.
We have a little ranch where at any given time you will find, dogs, horses, chickens, cattle, ducks or goats.
I enjoy cheering for my kids in their various activities: football, basketball, track, karate, and rodeo. We live close to the water, so when we have family time we love to take our boat out to go fishing or gigging, or we just swim in the creek when it’s hot. I’m hoping to get a kayak before next summer! I like to watch my kids and husband rope steers on cool evenings. My kids and I enjoy hiking on our days off from school and an occasional roadtrip when time allows. We usualy visit state or national parks and historic sites when we do. I enjoy doing yoga, watching reality shows, shopping online, decorating/crafting, and doing puzzles. I like to do a little gardening in the spring and deer hunting in the fall. My favorite food is cheese fries, my favorite drink is sweet tea, my favorite movies are comedies, my favorite books are mysteries, my favorite place to visit is the mountains, my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving and my favorite thing to do is spend the day at the spa.
